[Remote] DevOps Engineer (AWS, Linux, CI/CD)
Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. Optomi, in partnership with their premier client, is seeking an experienced DevOps Engineer to support the reliability, security, and continuous improvement of a cloud-hosted production environment. This role focuses on infrastructure administration, deployment activities, automation initiatives, and operational support to maintain highly available systems and ensure smooth application delivery.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support AWS services including EC2, RDS/Aurora, ALB, IAM, CloudWatch, and related cloud resources
- Monitor infrastructure health and proactively address performance, availability, and capacity concerns
- Drive improvements in system scalability, reliability, and operational efficiency
- Perform routine operating system patching and maintenance activities across Linux environments
- Maintain security-related documentation and ensure adherence to organizational standards and compliance requirements
- Identify, assess, and remediate infrastructure vulnerabilities and security findings
- Participate in audit preparation and ongoing security review processes
- Coordinate and execute application deployments across multiple environments
- Maintain deployment workflows and CI/CD processes to support consistent software delivery
- Assist with release validation and production readiness activities
- Develop and enhance automation scripts using Bash and related scripting technologies
- Streamline operational processes through automation and infrastructure management practices
- Support configuration management initiatives and environment standardization efforts
Skills
- Hands-on experience administering AWS environments, including EC2, RDS/Aurora, ALB, IAM, and CloudWatch
- Strong Linux systems administration background, preferably supporting Ubuntu-based environments
- Experience supporting applications built on the LAMP stack (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP)
- Familiarity with Java-based services running in production
- Proficiency in Bash scripting for automation and operational tasks
- Experience supporting cloud-based production systems and critical business applications
- Knowledge of monitoring, logging, alerting, and incident management best practices
- Familiarity with software deployment processes and CI/CD methodologies
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively manage priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
