Tax Associate (Newport Beach, CA)
Mercer Advisors is a leading independent fiduciary firm that specializes in comprehensive financial planning and investment management. The Tax Associate will prepare income tax returns and projections for high-net-worth clients, collaborating with the Tax Team to ensure timely and accurate tax compliance services.
Responsibilities
- Prepare tax returns for high-net-worth individuals, trusts and businesses
- Create quarterly estimates and projections
- Responsible for timely and accurate response to tax questions, estimates, projections, and analysis with both tax and wealth management clients
- Coordinate with tax support staff to ensure timely workflow practices and data integrity
- Work with tax staff to respond to tax notices and initial preparation of correspondence
- Stays up to date on tax law and any changes
- All other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
- Working knowledge of tax preparation, preferably 1-3+ years of experience working in public accounting
- Obtained or plan to obtain CPA or EA, a plus
- Experience with CCH, including Axcess, Workflow and Practice, and SafeSend, a plus
- Highly organized and tax-oriented
- Ability to handle a large volume of activities at one time
- Ability to communicate concepts to clients and advisors in concise and understandable fashion
- Must be detail-oriented and have excellent time-management skills
