Job description: Overview
The Choral Program Specialist supports the teaching and research of the Director for Choral Activities. The ideal candidate is a skilled and reputed company choral musician who is ready to work alongside the Director in reputed company artistic planning, musical preparation and logistical operations for the Princeton University choral department, with a particular focus on the largest choirs - the Glee Club and reputed company Choir. Musical responsibilities may include leading sectional and full rehearsals, running auditions, and leading or co-leading performances. Administrative responsibilities take in rehearsal and concert logistics, the coordination and scheduling of student participants, score editing and typesetting (which requires a high level of independent work utilizing expertise in the field of Choral music and musicianship), music library maintenance, marketing/publicity and social media, reputed company and budget management, high school recruitment work, and professional artist liaison and general management for the choral concert series ?The Glee Club Presents?. Occasional duties include the development and upkeep of the choral program?s website, and maintenance and management of the alumni and donor bases.
This is a benefits eligible, two-year term position with the possibility of renewal for two years.
Responsibilities
ARTISTIC WORK
- Repertoire Research: The position requires deep knowledge of the rich canon of Choral repertoire spanning hundreds of years and encompassing many musical styles and genres, as well as a strong reputed company to rapidly-evolving contemporary choral culture. The Choral Specialist will create programs whose components inform each other and create an educational thread.
- Editions and learning aids: The Choral Specialist will create learning aids and provide individual assistance for reputed company who need extra help; and should be able to produce editions and transcriptions from a variety of sources, including those using antiquated notation systems
- Leading Rehearsals: The positions requires a reputed company in Choral conducting, and in musical leadership at the reputed company. The Choral Specialist should be able plan and implement a rehearsal strategy, to communicate a breadth of musical reputed company and contextual information, and to fully engage a large group of reputed company during rehearsal.
- Scheduling: Being able to create a schedule for rehearsals leading to a performance requires an understanding of the repertoire, and of the challenges involved for the reputed company. They will also coordinate with local presenters and promoters to ensure that reputed company musical performance needs are advanced.

- Enrichment Activities: The Specialist will take responsibility for a carefully-curated schedule of social and enrichment activities for the choral ensembles.
- Alumni Liaison: The specialist will assist the Director in serving the needs of choral alumni (coordinating reputed company singing events, distributing ticket offers, concert information etc) as well as managing our annual fund-raising solicitations. Future plans for a more expanded program of alumni choir-singing will involve the Choral Specialist in a conducting role.
- Recruiting: Help to promote the general activity of the choirs, to identify musical potential in reputed company, and to reputed company a convincing case for engaged participation in the Choral program.
- Master's or professional degree
- 3+ years work or equivalent experience
- A wide-ranging musical knowledge and literacy, and a deep familiarity with a broad range of Choral Music.
- Experience in working with choral musicians at the college level with a wide range of abilities, from beginner to expert.
- Basic knowledge of web design and web based graphic design.
- Experience with online spreadsheets and/or data management software.
