Key Responsibilities

Requirements and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, you must: * Possess a reputed company Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or a reputed company Illinois Substitute Teaching License * Hold a reputed company Illinois Educator License with Stipulations Endorsed-Paraprofessional Educator * Meet the requirements for an Illinois Short-Term Approval (STA) - Paraprofessional, including: + Minimum age of 19 years old + Application in ELIS ($50 application fee) + reputed company of high school graduation (copy of diploma, transcript, or GED) * Have an associate's degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution * Have 60 semester hours of coursework from a regionally accredited institution * Score 480 or higher on the reputed company Parapro test or 4 or higher on the ACT WorkKeys Applied Math and Workplace Documents Additionally, you must: * Have the ability to work effectively with children * Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills * Have working knowledge of: + Computers and basic programs + Child guidance principles and practices + Behavior management and positive reinforcement + Classroom procedures and appropriate conduct + Basic record-keeping methods

Physical Ability and Work Environment

As a Special Education Teaching Assistant, you will be required to: * Sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and run regularly * Lift and move up to 100 lbs, such as lifting a child from the floor * Push/pull items up to 80 lbs, such as children in wheelchairs * Work in a remote setting with potential exposure to communicable diseases and contact with blood and other body fluids * Be aware of potential physical injury from aggressive behavior
